Gone are the days when people used to think that BA in journalism and mass media was for people who were extra sharp, extra talented, and outgoing. Mass media is attracting more and more students because it gives them freedom of expression, the stability of work, and helps them to make a good income. 1. This is not a stable field

People used to think most of the time that getting into mass media is not an easy task and once a person gets a job in this field, they can be thrown out at any time. This is an entirely untrue statement because to work with any media company, one has to sign a contract that ensures that they are to work in a company for a set period of time which is mentioned in the contract.

2. Not ideal for girls

Many times people come to know that mass media is not an ideal job for girls as it includes lots of traveling and working odd hours. But today when you turn on the TV or radio, you come to know that the most successful anchors and media writers are women. So this is not a valid point to make when girls students wish to opt for mass communication education.

3. No job security

Another excuse that people make to discourage students from joining mass media is that there is no job security in the sector. On the contrary, we have found that once a person gets established in the sector with their passion and hard work, there is no way that they can be out of the sector. So, once a person can get a decent job, he doesn’t have to worry about job security.

4. Doesn’t pay much

Regardless of what people say outside this sector, there are different opportunities for fresher’s to work and get experience and make lots of money. Gone are the days when there used to be one or two media houses that appointed selected candidates. With social media on the rise, it is a need of the hour for companies to hire people who are good at their work.

5. Needs super creativity

People used to think that to enter the media industry one has to become bold, confident, have perfect communication skills, work odd timings of the day, travel a lot, and yet their job won’t be secure. While a good personality and a way to express information are important in the sector, it is untrue that a person needs to be super creative. There are so many different types of jobs mass communication that a person can go for even if they have zero creativity.
